Philosophy of Art Education

I thrive as a teacher of art because it allows me to experience two of my greatest passions, working with children and creating art. Aside from my personal love for art, I feel a need to promote what the arts have to offer. Art possesses unique qualities essential to a person's life. Characteristics such as creativity, problem solving, expression, communication, exploration, and a number of other attributes are beneficial to individuals and our world.

Eric Jensen, author of Arts With the Brain in Mind, proclaims, "Arts are not only fundamental to success in our highly technical, fast moving world, but they are what make us most human, most complete as people."

I stand by that statement and have made it my personal goal to nurture the growth of each and every student that steps foot in my art room. I believe that every child has been created uniquely and has something special to offer.
