About Mrs. Miller

I have been teaching art at Westlawn since 2011 and continue to LOVE what I do! I appreciate each and every day that I have the opportunity to create art with students! I am passionate about what I do and hope that through my interactions with students I can instill in them a love for art and for life.

I was born and raised in Waupaca, Wisconsin, which is approximately two hours north of Cedarburg. I had the privilege of growing up with an older brother and sister (whom I'm sure I often annoyed being the youngest sibling) ☺ During my childhood years I was very active in figure skating, dance, soccer, musicals, and other various activities that required my parents be professional chauffeurs. In school, art and music were my two favorite subjects and by high school I knew that my future career would be art related. When it came time to make that decision of a future career I decided to follow in my mother's
footsteps and become an art teacher. It only made sense that I would combine two of my greatest strengths, working with people and creating art.

Following high school, I decided to attend Concordia University Wisconsin where I graduated with an Art Education degree in 2010. The Lord has truly blessed me in my journey to becoming an art teacher. I have had many experiences along the way that have helped me to grow as an artist, including the invitation from Dr. Sanders to paint the mural in the Westlawn gym (along with Parkview art teacher Kim O'Reilly). Beyond growing as an artist, my love and care for children (of all ages) continues to grow deeper each year. I can honestly say that I LOVE what I do, where I work, and the people I work with!

When I am not teaching students, organizing the art room, or planning projects, I enjoy spending time with my family (Husband Craig, daughter Naomi, and son Bennett), as well as our other family and friends!
